Editorial Policy
This page explains how content on this site is written, sourced and kept accurate, and what you should and shouldn't assume about it.
Who writes this content
All lessons, questions, explanations, guides and FAQ content on this site are written specifically for YourUKHelpDesk by Risten Global Ltd. Nothing is scraped or copied from other websites, and no content is reproduced from the official government handbook, which remains Crown copyright.
What "official" and "independent" mean on this site
We're careful to separate two kinds of information:
- Official information — things like current fees, booking procedures, exemption rules, and identification requirements. These come from and are always attributed to GOV.UK, because they change and only the government can confirm current details.
- Our preparation guidance — study lessons, practice questions, explanations, memory aids and revision structure. This is original educational content written to help you learn and practise, not official government material.
Where a page states or implies a figure that could change (a fee, a pass mark, an exemption rule), we aim to note when it was last reviewed and link to the official source rather than presenting our own version as authoritative.
Accuracy and correction
We aim for factual accuracy across all content. Practice questions and lessons are written from general knowledge of UK history, government and civic life, cross-checked where practical, but they are not proofread by the government and may contain errors we haven't caught yet.
If you spot something that looks wrong — a date, a fact, an explanation that doesn't sit right — you can flag it using the "Flag for review" option during any practice test, or get in touch through our contact channel. Corrections are reviewed and applied directly to the source content.
What our practice questions are, and aren't
Every question on this site is original, written for revision purposes. None of them are taken from the real Life in the UK Test, and no legitimate preparation site can honestly claim otherwise — the real question bank isn't public. Our questions are written to cover the same syllabus areas the official test draws from, in a similar style and difficulty, but passing our mock tests does not guarantee passing the official test.
No affiliation
YourUKHelpDesk and Risten Global Ltd are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the UK Home Office, GOV.UK, or the official Life in the UK Test provider. This is stated here plainly and repeated across the site because it matters: always verify current official requirements directly at gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test.
How we handle advertising, if present
If this site displays advertising, it will always be visually distinguishable from editorial content, and will never appear inside the test-taking screens, between answer options, or in a way designed to be mistaken for navigation. Content is written to be genuinely useful on its own, independent of whether you interact with any advertisement.
